Privacy
Last updated 3 October 2026. Numbers is run by Thomas Bruland, who is responsible for the data described here.
In short: Numbers has no accounts, cookies, analytics or ads. Your progress stays in your browser. We only receive something when you choose to send a problem report.
On your device
Your progress and settings (theme, romanization, whether you've seen the beta notice) are saved in your browser's local storage so they're there next time. They never leave your device. To remove them, reset your progress on the Progress page or clear this site's data in your browser.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. As with any website, delivering a page means Vercel's servers process your IP address and browser details, and keep short-lived technical logs for security and reliability. See Vercel's privacy policy. Fonts, audio and everything else the app uses are served from this site, so no other company receives your visit.
Problem reports
If you use Report a problem, we receive what you write, the language, item and page you were on, the last audio clip played and your browser's user-agent string (its name and version). We use this only to fix the course content. Reports are kept in the site's logs (and may be forwarded to a private channel only the maintainer reads) and deleted once they're no longer needed. Your IP address is used briefly to limit spam and isn't stored with the report. Please don't include personal information in a report.
Audio
The course audio is computer-generated with Microsoft Azure neural text-to-speech voices. The clips are made in advance and served from this site: nothing you do in the app is sent to Microsoft. Numbers you type into the explorer are spoken by your browser's built-in voice; depending on your browser, that voice may use its maker's online speech service.
Legal basis and your rights
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure website and fixing its content (Article 6(1)(f)). You can ask us for access to, correction or deletion of data about you, or object to its use; because reports don't ask for your name or email, tell us roughly when you sent one and what it said. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Numbers is suitable for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
